A day in New York's subway

WHEN you visit New York, getting into the subway could either be a descent to hell or a pleasant pilgrimage.

I planned an October visit to the US Eastern Seaboard in June. Two months later, the New York Police Department reported a 'reduction in overall crime in New York City' since January this year.
