MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Trail Running Team (PhilTra) reached greater heights after earning two silver medals in the Asia Pacific Trail Running Championships 2024 in Uliji, South Korea. Johnray 'Stingray' Onifa crossed the line first in the 40-kilometer Short Trail Category, finishing in three hours and 47 minutes. With Onifa's feat, he carried his team to bag the silver overall in the men's short trail event as Randolf Gonzales (6th), Romnick Tongkaling (12th), Godwin Mirar (17th) crossed the line. In the men's Long Trail (80-km) category, the Philippines likewise finished second overall as Larry Apolinario led the team with his sixth-place finish, while Arnie Macarenas took ninth place. Rhys Pawid (23rd), Roberto Cain (30th), and Paul Brillantes (32nd) trailed behind. In the women's side of the Short Trail category, Elizabeth Dangadang and Angelie Cabalo, finished 6th and 16th, respectively, towing the squad to fourth place overall. The women's trail running team composed of Christabel Martes, Trisha Reyes, Noemi Fernandez, and Angelica Alejo also settled for fourth place in Long Trail event.The Trail Running Cup ran from Oct. 23-27.
