THE public outcry over the alleged failure of flood control projects to prevent the deluge that turned a huge swath of Bicol and Southern Tagalog regions into water worlds is palpable. Instantly, it became fodder for political memes and for partisan bickering in social media.
Posts attacking President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., his government and other incumbent officials inundated the internet. Pro-Duterte and anti-Marcos vloggers turned viral the scripted line of mockingly assuring Bicolanos not to worry since P9.4 billion of flood control projects were allegedly allotted to the region in 2023.
