CEBU CITY — The city made a giant step toward addressing its wastewater issues as it secured a P1 billion grant from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to establish a wastewater treatment facility in the North Reclamation Area.
Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia announced the development during a press conference on October 28, 2024, and explained that the project would help mitigate the pollution of local rivers and coastal areas, where untreated wastewater has been posing health and environmental risks for years.
