The former mayor of San Jose in Occidental Mindoro passed away at age 90 and was cremated on Wednesday, October 30, 2024.

Lawyer Albino Abeleda Arevalo, a native of San Jose, served as mayor for two years from 1986 to 1988 when he was appointed as the town's officer in charge by former President Corazon Aquino.
Arevalo also served as chairman of Barangay 7 Poblacion in San Jose from 1973 to 1986.
Aside from being a lawyer, Arevalo was also known as a rancher, poet, professor and a political adviser.
In 1951, he published a poem titled "Loafer" in The Guidon, school publication of Ateneo de Manila.


He was also voted president of PDP-Laban Mimaropa in 1984 and has held the position until his last breath.
During his incumbency as chief executive of San Jose, public market stalls were systematically organized, market fee collections reached record levels, employees' salaries were tripled, school buildings were constructed in five barangay, para-teachers were assigned to Mangyan communities and a new building was constructed for market vendors.

After his term as mayor, Arevalo served as a professor and legal counsel for Occidental Mindoro National College from 1988 to 2005, having already been a part-time instructor since 1986.
