MANILA, Philippines — The former governor of Maguindanao has called on Malacañang to remain steadfast amid "peace distractions" in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) being waged allegedly by his relatives who want to dominate the upcoming elections in the region.

Esmael "Toto" Mangudadatu, said that the peace distraction was an offshoot of his cousins having been refused an appointment as chief minister of the BARMM.
