SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union — Some 844 families from seven La Union towns and this city took refuge in the province's evacuation centers on Wednesday night as Severe Tropical Storm Kristine unleashed strong winds and dumped rains that flooded their villages, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) reported on Friday.
The families, which consisted of 2,437 individuals from the towns of Luna, Bangar, Balaoan, Rosario, Burgos, Aringay and Caba, and this city, were taken to 40 evacuation centers.
