THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) will continue to prepare for the first-ever parliamentary elections in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), even as the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) asked Congress to extend the transition period from 2025 to 2028.
"We will defer to the sound judgement and wisdom of Congress on the matter. However, our preparations shall proceed as scheduled," Comelec Chairman George Erwin Garcia said on Thursday.
