New Delhi chokes as 'hazardous' smog returns

NEW DELHI — Acrid clouds engulfed New Delhi on Wednesday as air pollution fueled by fireworks and farm stubble burning was ranked 'hazardous' by monitors for the first time this winter.

Commuters walking to work cough through poisonous smog that kills thousands each year, health experts say, although few in India's sprawling capital wear masks.
