CEBU CITY — Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama and Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes both expressed relief and determination following the Supreme Court's issuance of a temporary restraining order (TRO) on October 22 against a Commission on Elections (Comelec) ruling that perpetually disqualified them from public office.
The Comelec issued a decision on September 4, disqualifying Rama and Cortes based on separate Ombudsman decisions, but with the high tribunal's issuance of TROs, the two mayors, as well as former Albay governor Noel Rosal, get a new lease in life as they could continue their campaigns while their cases are being reviewed.
