PHILHEALTH has increased its hemodialysis benefits package twice in 2024, raising financial support from P4,000 per session in July to P6,350 per session starting in October. This brings the total annual financial package for chronic kidney disease stage 5 (CKD5) patients to nearly P1 million, up from P624,000.

The changes, outlined in PhilHealth Circular 2024-0023, took effect on October 7. Members and dependents with CKD5 can now access the PhilHealth President and CEO Emmanuel Ledesma Jr. highlighted that despite the previous increase, many patients were still paying significant out-of-pocket costs. The cooperation of nephrologists and dialysis centers has been essential in establishing a no-co-payment arrangement.
