AMID an intensified crackdown against the "paihi" modus, or the illegal transfer of fuel, the Bureau of Customs (BoC) seized a fuel tanker and four lorries caught in the act of transferring smuggled fuel at the Port of Batangas worth at least P90 million.

Customs Commissioner Bien Rubio said on Thursday that vessel MTKR Cassandra was caught by operatives of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS) and Enforcement and Security Service (ESS) in the act of transferring 1.8 million liters of smuggled fuel products into four lorry tankers.
