Cagayan conducts surveillance vs bird flu

TUGUEGARAO CITY — As a preventive measure against bird flu or avian influenza, the Provincial Veterinary Office (PVET) of Cagayan is continuously conducting surveillance in various towns in the province that are often visited by migratory birds.

Dr. Myka Ponce of PVET said they conduct surveillance by collecting blood samples from domestic ducks, chickens and turkeys in eight towns in Cagayan, particularly Sanchez Mira, Aparri Ballesteros, Buguey, Camalaniugan, Santa Teresita, Gonzaga and Peñablanca.
