Omoda E5 earns EV certification from AAP

OMODA Philippines has announced that its first fully electric crossover SUV, the E5, has officially received electric vehicle certification from the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP). This milestone was achieved after the vehicle successfully passed an efficiency run, validating its published range of 430 kilometers (km).

The certification process involved two Omoda E5 units that underwent a rigorous test based on specific parameters. Both vehicles started with a 100-percent battery charge, using standard original equipment manufacturer (OEM) settings. Tire pressures were set to 42 pounds per square inch, and the cars maintained speeds between 60 and 100 kph where safe and legal, following city and provincial road limits. Each vehicle carried three passengers and 10 kilograms of cargo.
Along with the standard settings, the vehicles were placed in energy-saving mode with the highest regenerative braking activated. Passengers were given the freedom to adjust air conditioning settings, and other accessories like headlamps and wipers while the infotainment system was used to simulate real-world conditions. Adaptive cruise control was also activated during the test. The efficiency run spanned nearly 13 hours, covering six destinations: Shell Mamplasan in Laguna, NLEx Balagtas in Bulacan, Petron TPLEx northbound in Tarlac, Shell TPLEx Rosario in La Union, Clean Beach Coffee in San Juan, and Poro Point Lighthouse in San Fernando La Union.
By the end of the test, one vehicle finished with a 2-percent battery charge and an estimated eight km of range left, achieving a total distance of 442.7 km. The second vehicle recorded a remaining range of 28 km with 7-percent battery charge left, covering 428.8 km. On average, the test vehicles recorded a range of 435 km, surpassing the Omoda E5's published range.
Omoda E5 is the electric counterpart to the popular Omoda 5 crossover, designed to attract younger consumers with its sleek design and advanced features. Marco Chen, country director of Omoda Philippines, expressed pride in the certification, highlighting the brand's commitment to innovation.
'The AAP certification proves that the Omoda E5 is both stylish and efficient. Our electric vehicles are engineered for long drives on a full charge while ensuring passenger comfort. This certification showcases Omoda's dedication to smart innovations, eco-friendly features, and modern aesthetics,' Chen said.
The AAP, the Philippines' oldest and largest automobile club, is recognized for its advocacy of motorists' welfare. AAP members benefit from 24/7 roadside assistance, personal accident insurance, discounts from lifestyle partners, and more.
