PRYDE Henry Teves, brother of the fugitive, former congressman Arnolfo Teves, is running for governor of Negros Oriental. He was proclaimed winner in the 2022 gubernatorial race but stepped down after votes cast for a nuisance candidate — suspected to have been fielded by the Teves camp — were counted in favor of the late governor Roel Degamo.
By July 2023, almost five months after the March 4 Pamplona massacre, Pryde, his brother who had not yet been expelled from the House of Representatives, and 11 of their associates were designated as terrorists by the Anti-Terrorism Council. Some of these personalities have long been arrested, while others remain at large. Arnolfo Teves is still in Timor-Leste, having dodged extradition so far.
