BBM engages China on South China Sea issues

FIRST THINGS FIRST

AT the 44th and 45th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) summit meetings in Vientiane last week, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. (BBM) challenged China to demonstrate greater zeal in trying to reduce the tension in the South China Sea and in working for an effective China-Asean Code of Conduct in the contested waterway.

The Asean leaders listened up, but China failed to respond satisfactorily to this call.
