MANILA, Philippines — In a powerful call to action, Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla urged local governments in the Asia-Pacific region to accelerate disaster risk reduction efforts, warning that time is of the essence in one of the world's most disaster-prone regions.

Speaking on Monday at the Local and Regional Government Assembly during the 2024 Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (APMCDRR) hosted by Manila and the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction at the Philippine International Convention Center, Remulla emphasized the need for swift, decisive action to mitigate the increasing risks of natural disasters.
