A FEW days ago, universities and colleges posted announcements on various social media platforms about the renewal of their autonomous status or their being granted autonomous status by the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) for the first time. It was surely a sigh of relief for everyone who worked hard to achieve autonomous status for their institutions.
Perhaps many universities and colleges hold on to the idea that there might be a correlation between getting that status and the strategic directions set to assure quality education.
