Slashing the poverty rate

DESPITE the many domestic and external challenges, the government firmly believes it is on the right track to significantly reducing poverty incidence, and there is optimism that the poverty rate will be down to a single digit by the time President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. leaves office in 2028.

Poverty incidence refers to the proportion of households with incomes that are insufficient to buy their minimum basic food and nonfood commodities as estimated by the poverty threshold.
