THE first quarter of 2025 is shaping up to be a busy one for Philippine cinema; what with the much-anticipated second edition of the Puregold CinePanalo film festival.

Half a year in the making, the industry's newest — but very welcome — festival awarded a P3-million grant each to eight filmmakers who made the final cut for the 2025 Puregold CinePanalo.
