FOLIE à deux is a French term which translates as shared madness of two people in close association. A delusion is a false belief. But the use of this term in this article does not refer to the psychiatric condition referred to in the Diagnostic Statistics Manual version 5 as delusional disorder or in the "other specified schizophrenia spectrum."
The effect of such madness with reference to the use in this article is more serious — and damaging — than these mental conditions. And its exciting story is comparable to how the 2024 movie "Joker," which uses the same subtitle — Folie à Deux — has presented it in a blockbuster movie. This article refers to an analogy of how things are in the current society, with no offense and insensitivity set aside — with apologies — for those who are clinically suffering from this mental illness.
