JAC unveils all-new Ytterby electric vehicle

JAC Philippines has officially launched its latest electric vehicle (EV), the all-new Ytterby, at the newly opened JAC dealership in Pasig.

Tonette Lee, JAC Philippines brand head, said all-new Ytterby is a reflection of the company's 60 years of engineering expertise. She emphasized that this EV is designed to strengthen JAC Philippines' position as a brand that offers a broad selection of reliable and cost-efficient passenger vehicles in the local market.
'The launch of the all-new Ytterby comes at a perfect time as electric vehicles continue to gain traction in the Philippines due to their clean and cost-effective mobility,' Lee said. 'This stylish and practical EV, packed with cutting-edge technology, is surprisingly accessible, reinforcing our commitment to offering value-packed models that every Filipino deserves.'
Luis Torres Bruzon, Astara Philippines country manager and chief executive officer, echoed Lee's sentiments, stressing that the introduction of the Ytterby aligns with JAC Philippines' mission of providing a wide range of affordable passenger and commercial vehicles.
First showcased at the 2024 Manila International Auto Show, the Ytterby features JAC's 'Bubble Aesthetics Design' philosophy. Its sleek front end boasts large LED headlights and circular daytime running lights that are energy-efficient, enhancing visibility in low-light conditions and improving overall safety.
The steeply sloped windshield leads to a 1.45-meter panoramic skylight made from laminated Low-E glass. This advanced glass technology not only allows natural light into the cabin, creating a bright and airy feel, but also reduces heat, glare, and UV radiation, improving passenger comfort and energy efficiency.
On the sides, tri-color petal wheels and retractable door handles add flair to the design, while enhancing aerodynamics. The rear of the Ytterby features a blacked-out D-pillar, a subtle tailgate spoiler, and large square LED taillights that give the EV a distinctive appearance.
The Ytterby comes in two variants that offer impressive ranges to suit different driving needs. The Air 405 variant, equipped with a 41-kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery, provides a maximum range of 405 kilometers (km), while the PRO 505 variant, with a 51.5-kWh battery, extends the range to 505 km.
Both variants support DC (direct current) fast charging, allowing for a 30- to 80-percent charge in just 30 minutes. A full charge using the standard 7-kWh home charger takes between 7.5 and 9 hours, depending on the model.
The Ytterby also boasts JAC's 9-in-1 Electric Drive System, integrating nine critical components into a compact design. This allows for more interior space, enhancing passenger comfort and cargo capacity. The EV is 40-percent lighter and up to 94-percent more efficient than comparable vehicles, with an energy consumption of just 10-kWh per 100 km, offering significant savings on electricity.
JAC Philippines has simplified the driving experience with the all-new Ytterby. The vehicle can be unlocked and powered up automatically when the owner approaches, with no need to press a start button — just press the brake pedal and drive. At the end of a trip, the car powers off once the door is locked, streamlining the entire process.
This user-friendly design is part of JAC Philippines' commitment to enhancing the overall driving experience for its customers.
The Ytterby has earned a 5-star rating in C-NCAP's crash tests, offering exceptional protection for its occupants. The vehicle comes with standard front, side, and curtain airbags, along with seatbelt-off warnings, and child-restraint anchors.
In addition to these features, the EV's zero-thermal-runaway honeycomb battery can withstand major collisions without catching fire. The 3-in-1 intelligent braking system further enhances road safety, helping prevent accidents.
The PRO 505 variant offers Level 2 Assisted Driving, which can intervene in the event of an imminent collision and provides greater comfort during long drives.
The Ytterby is now available at all JAC Philippines dealerships and comes in five colors: Beige, Purple, Blue, White, and Gray. The Air 405 variant is priced at P1.195 million while the PRO 505 costs P1.32 million. Both variants come with a 6-year or 150,000-km warranty, an 8-year or 150,000-km warranty on the battery and electric drive assembly, and free 24/7 emergency roadside assistance for the first year. Buyers also receive a free portable charger and a home charger, with installation covered by the owner.
