MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 6.1 earthquake shook the province of Catanduanes on Wednesday morning, state seismologists said.

Tectonic in origin, the tremor occurred around 5:19 a.m. some 81 kilometers northeast of Bagamanoc town, also in the province, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
