KATHMANDU — Recovery and rescue efforts were stepped up in Nepal on Monday as the death toll from floods and landslides triggered by heavy rains in the Himalayan nation over the weekend rose to at least 193.
Many of the deaths were in the capital Kathmandu, which got heavy rainfall, and much of the southern part of the city was flooded. Thirty-one people are still reported missing, and 96 others are injured across the country, the police said in a statement.
