MANILA, Philippines — "Julian" has intensified into a super typhoon but the storm signals had been lifted in affected areas in extreme Northern Luzon, the state-run weather agency said on Tuesday.
Estimated some 205 kilometers (kms) west of Itbayat, Batanes, the super typhoon is moving west-northwestward slowly while packing maximum sustained winds of 185 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 230kph.
