MANILA, Philippines — Filipino folk singer Socorro Avelino, or Coritha, known for her protest song "Oras Na," died on Friday.

Her partner, Chito Santos, informed broadcaster Julius Babao in a phone call that the singer died at 7:50 p.m. She was 73 years old.
