A YOUNG scientist from the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU) in La Union was awarded a scholarship grant for his doctoral studies at a university in the United States.

Jeff Opeña, an assistant professor at the DMMSU North La Union Campus College of Agriculture, will pursue his Doctor of Philosophy (in Plant and Soil Science specializing in Genetics, Plant Breeding and Molecular Biology/Biotechnology at Texas Tech University (TTU) in Broadway Lubbock, Texas, from August 2024 to July 2028.
