THE University of Santo Tomas (UST) has been awarded a fresh autonomous status grant from the Commission on Higher Education, valid from Sept. 16, 2024 to Sept. 15, 2027 through CHEd Memorandum Order 7.
Under Memorandum Order 7, signed by CHEd Chairman Prospero de Vera III on September 16, UST can launch new undergraduate, master's and doctorate programs in its expertise areas without prior approval from CHEd. It is also exempted from CHEd's regular monitoring and evaluation and is prioritized in the grant of subsidies and other financial incentives or assistance, among other benefits.
