THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) introduces the term "digital election campaign" in the recently issued guidelines.
Comelec Resolution 11064, entitled "Guidelines on the Use of Social Media, Artificial Intelligence, and Internet Technology for Digital Election Campaign, and the Prohibition and Punishment of Its Misuse for Disinformation, and Misinformation, in Connection with the 2025 National and Local Elections and the BARMM Parliamentary Elections," defines "digital election campaign" as "an election campaign conducted through online channels, including digital platforms, social media, websites, and other internet-based tools, aimed at promoting the election or defeat of a particular candidate or candidates to a public office, or to influence voter behavior during campaign period, x x x."
