Asean nations prioritize maritime sustainability

THE Association of South East Asian Nations (Asean) member states have taken significant steps to address maritime challenges by adopting the Regional Strategy on Biofouling Management during the 47th Asean Maritime Transport Working Group in Brunei.

The Philippine delegation, led by Maritime Industry Authority (Marina) Deputy Administrator Nannette Dinopol, emphasized the importance of best practices in biofouling management. The collaborative effort aims to protect marine ecosystems while promoting the energy-efficient operation of ships. The adoption of this strategy aligns with the United Nations Human Rights Council's resolution on promoting seafarers' rights.
