AT least five town officials in Maguindanao del Sur on Saturday handed over a total of 38 assorted high- and low-powered firearms to the military in an effort to end conflicts and preserve peace and order in the area.

Maj. Orlando Ayllon Jr., public information officer of Western Mindanao Command, revealed that among those who relentlessly pursued to combat the proliferation of loose firearms in the Bangsamoro region were officials from Shariff Aguak, Data Abdullah Sangki, Sultan sa Barongis, Mamasapano and Rajah Buayan, all in Maguindanao del Sur.
