WE'VE already heard about the Philippine birth certificates obtained by some Chinese citizens. The latest twist, discussed by Rep. Dan Fernandez in the September 19 quad committee hearing, is how Yang Jianxin of China used both his Chinese identity and a false Filipino identity in his business operations in the Philippines.
Yang is an older brother of Duterte-era economic adviser Michael Yang. As president of Philippine Sanjia-Steel Corp., Yang Jianxin was prominent enough to accompany the Davao City-based consuls of China and other Chinese businessmen, according to articles posted on the internet. But Yang Jianxin is also Antonio Lim, a Filipino citizen and passport holder if we are to believe Representative Fernandez. Antonio Lim is one of the three Filipino incorporators of Sanjia. The two other incorporators are listed as Chinese. Lim has held the positions of treasurer, director and president of Sanjia. In July 2019, Lim signed the lease contract for the foreshore and offshore areas with Phividec Industrial Authority on behalf of Sanjia.
