Easterlies prevail as southwest monsoon weakens

MANILA, Philippines— As the southwest monsoon or habagat temporarily weakened, the easterlies will prevail in most areas of the country, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Monday.

The easterlies - winds coming from the east that pass through the Pacific Ocean that carry humid and warm weather - are affecting the eastern section of Visayas and Mindanao.
