APARRI, Cagayan — As the once abundant aramang, a small spider shrimp, steadily declines in the brackish waters of the northernmost town in Cagayan, conservation initiatives seek to restore the habitats vital to its survival and ensure the long-term sustainability of the species often used for 'bagoong.'
'Despite challenges, there is hope on the horizon. Efforts are under way to raise awareness about the plight of aramang and advocate for its protection,' said the statement released on Saturday by Aparri environment advocates and fishermen.
