SOGETSU Manila Branch celebrates its 35th anniversary with an exhibition at SM Aura, Bonifacio Global City in Taguig from Sept. 27 to 29, 2024.

The exhibition will feature floral arrangements by 40 Sogetsu Manila Branch members using two or more containers.

The opening ceremony on September 27 will be graced by Endo Akiko, wife of Japanese Ambassador Endo Kazuya, as guest of honor. The exhibition will be open to the public on September 28 and 29 during mall hours.

A demonstration on Sogetsu flower arrangement will be held on September 28 at 4 p.m. with Riji Sensei Christopher Lim from Singapore as main demonstrator.

Although Ikebana traces its roots in the 13th century, it became known and appreciated as an expression of art only in the 19th century. Sogetsu is among the schools of Ikebana. The Sogetsu School of Ikebana was founded in 1927 by Sofu Teshigahara. It has over 200 branches and study groups with over a million students and followers worldwide.

Sogetsu Manila Branch began with an exhibition in a popular five-star hotel in Manila in 1989. The Manila Branch holds a yearly exhibit of Ikebana Sogetsu arrangements made by its members. This year's exhibition is conducted in partnership with SM Aura and SM Malls Online.
