Protesters, police clash near Malacanang on Martial Law anniversary

MANILA, Philippines — Protesters clashed with anti-riot police in the nation's capital on Saturday as the country commemorated the 52nd anniversary of the declaration of Martial Law.

The protesters tried to make their way to Mendiola near Malacañan Palace past a barricade of policemen who were carrying shields but were forced back, according to Manila Police District spokesman, Maj. Philipp Ines.
