BACOLOD CITY — Three alleged scammers operating in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental were arrested by authorities in an entrapment operation on Wednesday.LtCol. Joery Puerto, head of the City Investigation and Detection Management Unit, identified the suspects as Arnold Reyes, his father Alan, and Nelson Elera.Puerto said the suspects lure a target victim into buying boxes of alleged artificial insemination products that turn out to be sachets of iced tea products. In 2022, there was a similar operation that happened in Barangay Singcang Airport where an Arab national would pretend to buy a house and ultimately scam a victim. The police have warned the public to be careful as there are groups that are still in Bacolod, preying on unsuspecting people. The group reportedly promised target victims that cows would reproduce quickly with the use of their products. The bottled products were sold at about P30,000 each, police said. The group also sought to buy a house purportedly for a foreign national buyer.According to the police, the scammers belong to an organized group operating in other parts of the country. The group operates with personnel who claim to be a salesman, a buyer, a coordinator, an expert in artificial insemination, a customer who will vouch for the effectiveness of the product, among others. However, a target victim went suspicious and coordinated with the police that led to an entrapment operation on September 17 in a subdivision in Barangay Tangub, Bacolod City.Alias 'Arnold' admitted that they have a number of members. They seek well-off persons who are interested in doubling their money through investments in artificial insemination. The police are tracking down an Arabian national said to be part of the group.A case of estafa has been filed against the suspects. The police conducted a long-term monitoring on the operation of the group that offered artificial insemination to cows.
