61 Pinoy workers repatriated from UAE

SIXTY-ONE overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) with visa or residency violations were repatriated from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) without legal consequences, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said Friday.

The Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi and consulate general in Dubai said 2,053 OFWs have availed of the amnesty program as of Saturday, September 7. The program will run from September 1 to October 30.

DMW Assistant Secretary for Reintegration Venecio Legaspi led the distribution of immediate financial assistance to the batch composed of 61 OFWs with two children from Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
