A best-selling Nordic noir comes to town

I WAS one of the Filipino writers invited by the Norwegian ambassador, Christian Halas Lyster, to have dinner with Jorn Lier Horst, a best-selling crime-thriller novelist from Norway.

In his introduction, Ambassador Lyster wondered how a safe and clean country like Norway could have such a hunger for crime-thriller novels? Horst's 'Snow Fall' has sold 10 million copies worldwide, with 2 million of them sold in his native country whose population is only 5.5 million.
