I HAVE been privileged to have taken part in the drafting of the Bangsamoro Organic Law and even more so to have had Tausugs for best friends and mentors.

Much of my "kamulatan" (consciousness) about the struggle of the Muslims of Mindanao was implanted by Sulu academics, foremost of whom are the founding chairman of the Moro National Liberation Front, Nur Misuari, and my professors at the University of the Philippines.
