FILIPINOS have lived with storms all their lives. No year passes without dramatic stories about disasters and losses wreaked by storms on hapless Filipinos.

And how we love disaster stories, films, theater and novels, whether these are about fires, e.g., "Towering Inferno," sunken ships, e.g. the "Titanic," or even lost bancas, or earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and yes, tidal waves. And always, there is a tragic love story tucked somewhere to help us forget the disaster until the next one comes along.
