I HAD planned on being a digital nomad since the Covid-19 pandemic started. I took the last plane out of Manila in March 2020 before the government sealed the borders of the country. I returned to Malaysia to my post as head of school and full professor of English at the University of Nottingham-Malaysia.

Malaysia had a strict lockdown, and we could only go to the supermarket or the pharmacy. I lived in a condo unit beside a mall, so that was not a problem.
