Local partnerships key to adopting DoST-funded technologies, says Sec. Solidum

SECRETARY Renato Solidum Jr. of the Department of Science and Technology (DoST) emphasized strengthening relationships with local stakeholders and academic institutions to enhance the commercialization and local use of various research and development (R&D) projects. Solidum highlighted the importance of collaboration with local players, government, academic institutions, and industry to sustain scientific efforts and translate research into practical applications.

DoST's regional directors, who are part of the board of regents of state colleges and universities (SUCs), and its funding for researchers have fostered strong ties with these institutions. During the 2024 Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week (RSTW) in Western Visayas, Solidum expressed gratitude for the partnership with the University of Antique and emphasized the need to ensure that R&D products are competitive locally and internationally through standards, control, and quality assurance.
