MANILA, Philippines — Angel Otom of the Philippines put herself in strong contention for a podium finish but ultimately finished sixth at the Paris Paralympics women's 50m backstroke S5 final at the Paris La Defense Arena Wednesday midnight, September 4 (Manila time).
Otom got off to a strong start that saw her swimming third from the starting line, but faded especially in the last half as she made contact with the wall in 44.0 seconds, 0.3 faster than her qualifying time in the heats.
