IN an interview last weekend, former senator Nikki Coseteng said that there was a "hate campaign" being waged against China and that if the situation is not addressed, "it could lead to all-out war." The claim that there is an organized hate campaign, as well as the conclusion that it could lead to an actual armed conflict between the Philippines and China, seem farfetched in our view. However, Coseteng does raise some valid concerns about how Chinese and especially Chinese Filipino people, may be viewed negatively by the public and mistreated by some.
