MOST Filipinos probably shrugged their shoulders over the August 23 launching of ANIM. That's the Alyansa ng Nagkakaisang Mamamayan (Alliance of United Citizens), described by ANIM convenor Caritas Philippines of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) as a "coalition to combat corruption [and] political dynasties, and push for electoral reforms."

The stated advocacy partly explains the shrug. Our nation has seen so many avowed governance and election crusaders, including national leaders and organizations, over the decades. Yet corruption, political dynasties and election anomalies have only worsened.
