MANILA, Philippines — Filipino pole vault ace Ernest John 'EJ' Obiena said he's ending his 2024 outdoor season prematurely due to a fractured L5 vertebra, which is found at the lower part of the spine.
'I am sorry to announce that I must call a premature close to my 2024 season,' Obiena wrote in an Instagram post Wednesday, August 28.
