THE 17th Summer Paralympic Games begin today in Paris, with more than 4,400 athletes from 180 national delegations descending on the historic Place de la Concorde for the opening ceremonies. Unfortunately, these athletes, including the six competitors representing the Philippines, are given only the barest fraction of the media attention and public and government support their counterparts received in the recently concluded 2024 Summer Olympics.
