(UPDATE) PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Monday paid tribute to the nation's "unsung heroes" as the Philippines marked National Heroes Day.

In his message, Marcos lauded ordinary Filipinos, including teachers, farmers and health care workers, for their contributions to nation-building.
