A letter from Pope Francis came out in mid-July, titled "Letter of His Holiness Pope Francis on the Role of Literature in Formation."

As His vicar on earth, the Good Shepherd makes Pope Francis an exemplary shepherd through the invaluable advice the pontiff offered in the letter, in which he expresses care not only for the flock but also for his fellow shepherds. I suppose his being a Jesuit, besides being pope, makes Francis the best person to write this letter. For those in the know, part of the academic tradition and teaching ministry of the Society of Jesus is somehow associated with their knowledge of classical literature, particularly those from the Greek, Roman and other ancient civilizations.
